The world

What can be measured is real.

This is the picture the world currently works with. It runs the day you are already inside. It does not finish you.

Materialist truth

The account the age actually uses.

A body is cells, sleep, food, and illness. Work is a task someone needs done. Money is how effort and need are counted between strangers. A family is people who must be fed, heard, and shown up for. Friendship is presence, and also status. Rest, in this account, is the pause that lets you produce again.

None of that is a costume. Medicine works because the body is physical. A bridge stands because the numbers were right. Rent is due whether or not you have looked within. Honor this picture. Live inside it well.

Where it stops

Useful, and not complete.

Your achievements are not vain, because they can be useful in the world. But they cannot complete you. You may have a great deal and still be empty of yourself. You may have very little, and yet within there may be a richness that no one can take away.

The problem is not the world. The problem is forgetfulness. Work. Love. Remain in the family. Earn. Build. And while doing all this, do not forget the center within you.

Do this today

Tonight, name one real duty of the day — a bill, a meal, a piece of work — and do it. Once, in the middle of it, ask who is doing it. Do not answer. Then sit.

Sit for the time you chose
