K-12 Meditation Service

A school or a parent arranges this. The sit is short. The words are ordinary. Ganesh does not sit alone with a child.

Who arranges it

A principal, a teacher, or a parent writes to Ganesh Subramanian. A child does not book this. A parent or school staff member is in the room for the whole sit. That is the rule.

The visit can be a classroom, a school hall, or a family at home in or near Cincinnati. A call is possible when a parent is on it with the child. Say which one you want in the first note.

Before you come

The adult who arranges this reads Self knowledge first. That is the prerequisite.

What the children are asked to do

Silent meditation. 30 minutes of silent meditation, then 15 to 30 minutes of questions at the end. A child may leave the quiet the moment they want to. There is no prize for lasting longer.

  • Notice that they can hear the room, and that something in them is already aware. Then go back to the day.
  • Hear no story meant to frighten them, and no prize for being the calmest person in the room.
  • Keep recess, friends, homework, and home exactly as real as they were.

Ganesh speaks in plain words a child can follow, then the room is quiet, then the day resumes. He does not collect names, photos of the children, or a record of who sat still. There is no price on this page. The school or the parent agrees the number in the reply before a date is set.

This is not counseling and it is not medical advice. If a child is distressed, the sit stops. The school counselor and the family doctor stay the right people for that. This does not ask a child to disclose anything private.

If you are the adult arranging this: can you sit in the room for the whole time, and can the children leave the quiet the moment they want to?
